The record

Familiar melodies, colder architecture.

On Kingdom of Forgetting, Hogan Ellis takes the broad horizons of his earlier American guitar music and moves them somewhere colder. Electric guitars, bass, drums, and melody remain at the center while strings and electronic textures settle beneath familiar arrangements.

The EP title was borrowed from a Cold War documentary about the Czech Republic. What began as a found phrase became an image for memory distorted by distance, private feeling surviving inside impersonal systems, and familiar places rendered strange by time.

Less open road, more Checkpoint Charlie.

01

Kingdom of Forgetting

The opening title track establishes the landscape: dark, spacious, and deliberately unresolved.

02

Carousel Life

Guitar-driven American songwriting changes shape as strings, electronic texture, and subterranean low end enter the arrangement.

ISRC QTA2T2601598

03

Legerdemain

The open landscape contracts into something more interior and claustrophobic, with bass and low-mid weight pressing the arrangement inward.

04

If I Were You

The first real exhale. Greater space and dynamic movement reopen the frame without restoring the old scenery.
